Ok, Spooky is powered by twin BMW 190 HP turbo diesels. She is a Bertam 28 foot Flybridge Sportsfisher/pleasure craft. Top speed is about 32 knots now (prior to trim tabs 28 knots). Fuel consumption is 35 litres per hour (prior to trim tabs was about 40 litres per hour).

The trim tabs are easy to operate, and I would suggest to anybody that the trim indicators are a must. I like knowing the exact position of each tab at any given time, which is also why I opted for trim indicators in both stations (flybridge and lower helm). The only thing I'm sorry about is not also purchasing the automatic trim adjuster.....perhaps at a later date I'll fit this option.
I chose the Bennett trim tabs mainly because of the added features that could be hooked up to the CPU, ie: auto trim, trim indicators etc.... Also, after reading many reports on other trim tab brands, the Bennet's promised more, (and delivered more), ease of installation (wiring) and reports sugested the duarbillity and quality was superior to other brands.
It was not just a snap decision, there were any hours of research on the internet before deciding on the Bennet Trim Tabs.

Other "boaties" I spoke to at Marinas, also indicated Bennett's and relayed some stories about other brands and the troubles they had. The only thing that one person said about the Bennets was that he had trouble with the rams. This, I found out later was because a wedge needs to be built for some transoms (Bertrams) due to a slight curvature of the transom. Once the wedge is fitted there should be no troubles with rams popping and for this reason it is important to get a knowledgable shipwright to fit the actual tabs".
